Iowa State Savings Bank complies with the practices established by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Your ResponsibilityOur policies and practices can only succeed to the extent of our responsibility. You carry the main burden for protecting your privacy, deflecting attempts to steal from you your information or assets, and for protecting your identity. Open mail from the bank promptly and reconcile your statements regularly. At a minimum, review your bank statements each month for irregularities. Protect your social security number, debit and credit card numbers, account passwords, access codes and other personal information. Take measures to minimize the damage in case your purse or wallet is stolen. Protect your incoming and outgoing mail. Destroy items you are discarding that contain personal financial information. Before disposing of solicitations you receive, tear them through to make identity theft more difficult. Do business with reputable people. PhishingYou may have heard in the media about the new scams taking place over email. These false emails state that they are from the FDIC, your credit card company, or even your bank – sometimes containing company logos in order to appear authentic. Scammers then try to solicit information from their prospective victims in order to commit fraud against them and the financial services industry. Variations of such illegal practices are currently widespread on the Internet. Some originate in the U.S. while others originate in countries where laws, law enforcement and other anti-fraud resources may be less robust. To help you avoid a phishing scam, we cannot emphasize strongly enough: Iowa State Savings Bank will NEVER request any private financial information, User IDs or passwords in an email. If you ever have a question regarding the validity of an email that states ISSB, please contact us. You can reach us by email at hasslefree@issbank.com, call us at (888) 508-0142, or stop in to the bank during business hours. If you receive an email that says it’s from a regulatory agency, such as the FDIC or the State Division of Banking, please contact them or us. The FDIC Kansas City Regional Office toll free number is (800) 209-7459, or their Des Moines Field Office can be reached at (515) 222-0254. If you believe any email you receive may be a scam, we suggest printing it out in order to preserve evidence of the attempted scam. |
